The Thomians continued their pursuit of the schools' rugby championship title when they took the fight to Kingswood College, the pre-season favourites. Neither the rain nor the ref's inability to distinguish one side's jersey from the other, could stop STC from beating Kingswood by 14 points to nil on Saturday evening at Bogamabara. Arch rivals, Royal College, are sitting at the top of the league table, separated from STC by virtue of their 4 point win at the top of the season. Both sides have been unbeaten for the rest of the season and they each have one game left (Live @ The Papare). S. Thomas' retained the Archibald Pereira Trophy for a second successive season when they overwhelmed St. Peters' College, 36 points to 3 at Bambalapitiya. STC's superior fitness levels coupled with the ferocious power-play of the forwards saw them cut loose in the second-half, after leading 7-3 at half-time.

The Thomians continued their winning streak with a ridiculous thumping of Mahanama College at the Big Club Grounds in Mt Lavinia on Saturday 13th June. The score at the final whistle was a cricket-like 98-7. Whilst Thomian fans would be disappointed that our boys didn't score a rare century, the greater concern must surely have been that this game was poor preparation for our next — the battle against St. Peter's College on Saturday 20th June at Bambalapitiya.

The Thomians continued their dominance in schools' rugby when they beat St Anthony's College Kandy in Kandy. STC cut loose in the second half to register a 52 points (6 goals, 2 tries) to 25 (1 goal, 3 tries 1 penalty) win over St. Anthony's College to retain the Rev. Fr. Rosati Memorial shield in their schools rugby tournament match played at Nittawela yesterday. At the half, Thomians led by a single point 19-18.

The OBA's Annual Seniors' Lunch was held, in true Thomian style, on Sunday the 24th of May at The Mechanics Hall in Oakleigh (Victoria). Thomians young and old gathered to celebrate the Seniors and their partners. Beer, wine and various other beverages primed the lively chatter and lunch that followed. Old Thomian Mazhar Rauff served up a traditional Sri Lankan meal of String Hoppers, Chicken Curry, Beef Curry, Pol Sambol and Seeni Sambol followed by Vanilla Ice Cream. Cholesterol, diabetic and other gastric concerns were soon forgotten as Tyrrel and the Rhythm Tones churned out some great old tunes that helped with dancing and digestion. The raffle draw and a pitch perfect rendition of the College Song helped round off a lovely afternoon. Click here for photographs

S. Thomas’ College defeated St Joseph's College and went on to regain the Lady Jayatilleke Shield at Mount Lavinia on Friday evening. The Thomians collected their points from four goals and two tries after having led 19-3 at half time. St. Joseph’s College responded with two unconverted tries and put over one penalty.
