Former S. Thomas’ College deputy skipper, Havelock’s SC skipper (2009) and national player Wasim Thajudeen passed away under tragic circumstances at the early hours today.

It is with sadness we note the death of our school mate Asiri Weerasinghe. He is the son of Mr C.S.Weerasinghe, our Middle School Head Master.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the members of the bereaved family.

The heads of Royal College and S. Thomas’ College announced at a press conference yesterday that the two schools have agreed to share the Mustangs Trophy which was originally awarded to the Thomians at the conclusion of last week’s Limited Overs Big match, admitting there was a fault associated with the calculation of the revised target.

The OBA would like to extend their congratulations to Old Thomian Nimal Wickramanayaka for his election to Justice of the Court of Appeal of The Fiji Islands in November last year. Yet another Thomian success story. Keep up the great work Nimal.

Many Thomians would have been left shocked and speechless upon hearing the news that our dear classmate Ranil Abeynaike had passed away on Tuesday 21st February.

I remember Ranil from our early school days. We had many years together in the class where we shared great moments enjoying the carefree stage in our lives. Ranil was very friendly and simple, and enjoyed playing softball cricket during the intervals and joining in all the fun we had as kids. In addition, I used to bump into him at certain family gatherings as we had common relatives.

I have been informed of the following funeral arrangement of our dear departed colleague and friend Ranil Abey.

Today 22/Feb remains will lie at A.F. Raymonds Funeral Parlour from morning.
A Service will be conducted at 09.00 a.m by Father Suresh Bandaranayake.
There will be a service in the College Chapel on Friday 24th at 3.00 p.m. and cortege will leave College to Mt. Lavinia Cemetery.

Final rites to be conducted at 4.00 pm.

Class of ’62 is requested to be present at STC for the service and final rites (Please wear the college tie).

Other updates will be sent out after discussing with his Brother Mohan who is due to arrive today.
